Steven Cyr M.D.:
For me what I do is I just try to moderate my diet. You want to follow a program that’s sustainable. I think the key to being fit throughout your life is doing something you can modify and moderate and sustain. If you go on these really heavy diets and these really hard programs to follow, it really becomes unsustainable. And so that’s when people see these weight fluctuations, which aren’t healthy for you. So if I feel like I’m eating too many carbs, the next day I’ll go low carb. Some days I go moderate, some days I go low. And on the days I have higher fats in which I always try to focus more on healthy fats I’ll intake less carbs that day. So for me, it’s always about protein at about a gram per pound of body weight, and then modifying my carbs daily. So I don’t go “no carbs”. What I do primarily is I avoidance sweets, sugars, desserts. Those are the things I think that really get you. But every once in a while, I will have a piece of cake. I mean, you have to do things that are sustainable.
